FLAGGING BOVINE DUST IN LAUNCESTON

Well it is the blowin again with another what hell would you know commentary. As I am often told, Tasmania is a complicated place and what works in other places will not work here. However, since I've found a bolthole here I have to try and make sense of seems so much bloody mindedness when the same old, same old gets challenged. This 'flag issue' is such a no brainer as to prove that no brains are at work and willing to give anything a chance. So, what has the ordinary person got to fear from the Aboriginal community. When Neville Chamberlain said that in war, whichever side calls itself the victor, in the end there are no winners, but there are a hell of a lot of losers. It is just the case here and this place seems to be knee deep in losers.

Each day I seem to be on some kind of journey into incredulity where what seemed so reasonable in other places is so very much not so here. Yes, the circumstances are different. Yes, the problems needing solutions are different. I might be better off here than say on a Shetland island but I would have to think hard about that in 2021.

However I have drifted off theme, this flag protocol thing is so very stupid. Firstly, someone has been caught out not doing what they  should have and the excuses are breeding excuses as everyone covers their political arses. There is just no other way to say it.

So, you have stuffed up and in many peoples' eyes, big time. So, fess up and get down to the business of what is it ... closing the gap? Or, is it to do with acknowledgement? Or, is it to do with competence? Or, is it the latent racism that lurks still in so many hiding places?

It may well be all of the above! However, NAIDOC WEEK has time to go yet so let us see who has the bottle to do what needs to be done and say what needs to be said?

No matter how many fights one gets into where you were it seemed you were always the victor, it is not anything to like really. Remember the past and look to the sky, and say, I don't want to fight any more. If you are tired of fighting, stop doing it. Know what we need in life, and know that fighting just is not going to get us there.

So stop it, because someone has to start the stopping!

QUOTE FOR THE TIMES: The main object of conciliation lies in reaching a solution to a case based upon morals and with a warm heart.
